Meet the Team

Shayna Landes, Director

Shayna Landes has been in the field of early childhood education for more than a decade: as a preschool teacher, as a curriculum director, and most recently as the Director to the Preschool of the Arts Chelsea and Greenwich Village Campuses in Manhattan. She has trained extensively and believes deeply in the Reggio Emilia approach to education, and can often be found exploring new ways to help guide her students’ interests through open-ended learning. She looks forward to partnering with Chabad in opening the Tri-City's first Reggio-inspired and Jewish preschool. Shayna holds degrees in both Psychology and Early Childhood Education.

Heidi Caswell, Educator

Picture
Heidi Casell first discovered her passion for nature-based early childhood education during Grad School. After teaching for 15 years in a Reggio-Inspired school in Boston, she moved back to California together with her husband and teenage son, to be closer to family. She has been working in the field of early childhood education for 20 years, and has a BA in Political Science from CSULB and an MS in Child and Family Studies from Wheelock College in Boston. In her spare time, Heidi enjoys hiking and exploring new places, working on jigsaw puzzles, and cuddling with her two cats, Jack and Evie.

Zhanna Shpits, Music Educator

At Shalom Preschool, we are honored to have Morah Zhanna lead our Music Program.

Music has been a huge part of Zhanna’s life since she was a little girl. With a teaching and performing career that spans over 30 years, Zhanna has been serving thousands of families in the Bay Area and across the globe through her in-person and online music programs, performances and workshops.

She uses music as a powerful vehicle to connect, spread love, kindness, compassion, and teach peace. “You’re loved. You’re seen. You’re heard. You MATTER,” is the message she wants every child and adult to embrace.

Zhanna Shpits is an award-winning music educator, entrepreneur, singer, songwriter, award-winning performing artist, the host of the Kidz Universe TV Show, and a loving mom of 2.
